Our Mission

At Northbrook Covenant, our mission is to glorify God--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--by becoming mature disciples of Jesus Christ and inviting others to join us.

Our hope is to carry out our mission by knowing God deeply and walking in the fullness of his abundant life, by ministering to one another within our community, and by making God's love known to the world around us.

What We Believe

Northbrook Covenant is part of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Our formal confession states simply that, "the Holy Scripture, the Old and New Testament, is the word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct."

Our essential beliefs are summed up in what we call our affirmations:

We affirm the centrality of the word of God.

We affirm the necessity of the new birth.

We affirm a commitment to the whole mission of the church.

We affirm the church as a fellowship of believers.

We affirm a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit

We affirm the reality of freedom in Christ.

Our History

In 1963, Northbrook Covenant Church was planted. Services were first held at Greenbriar Elementary School with plans to build our own building on what was then a field on the corner of Pfingsten and Techny. The church was received into the Evangelical Covenant Church in 1964 and the building was dedicated in 1965. The second phase of the building, which included a new sanctuary and classrooms, was completed in 1975.
